Meet the artisan
Meet Emma: Of Wilder Collective
Meet Emma Hacking.
Emma is a woman passionate about preserving the beauty of times past for the women of today. She is inspired by timeless beauty. Historic films, interior design, old books, patterns found on heirloom china, antique stores, and the treasures they hold have all been sources of inspiration for Emma’s clothing line, Wilder Collective. For example, her best-selling Juliette dress was inspired by an Edwardian blouse she found while browsing at an antique store.
Emma is an exceptional seamstress and designer. With close to 20 years of experience in sewing, she has mastered a craft that is quickly becoming a lost art in our day and age. We love partnering with someone committed to preserving the art of sewing and handcrafted clothing!

Emma’s journey as a seamstress began with a skirt, the very first piece of clothing she made. Her love for creating and talent for sewing grew over the years. Then, in 2020, after much encouragement from friends, Emma opened her business, Wilder Collective, as a small online Etsy store. Here, she began her journey designing, making, and selling handmade articles of clothing to the public. Her talent for crafting quality pieces quickly became in high demand to the point where Emma could not keep up with it alone. After careful consideration, Emma eventually partnered with a group of women in Northern India to help meet the high demand for her clothing line. Emma now operates a thriving business that is making a worldwide impact. Her commitment to ensuring her business operates at the highest ethical standards has provided a workspace for the women in India to cultivate their craft in a safe environment with fair practices. Emma is dedicated to ensuring that no child labor is ever involved in the making of her clothing pieces. Using only sustainable natural fibers in her designs, such as linen and organic cotton, is another very important factor for Emma and a trademark of her clothing line.
When she is not excitedly sketching out her latest design for a new dress, Emma also loves to cook, go for walks in the countryside, read, spend time with her beloved family, visit farms, and, of course, explore antique stores!
We are so excited and thankful that here at The Prairie Collective, we get to work with Emma to create truly custom, quality, and original pieces that we can then offer to you!
